How to Teach ESL (English as a Second Language)
Whether you are completely new to the field of ESL or have been an ESL professional for many years, this class will assist you in better understanding second language learning theory as well as second language teaching methodologies. You will learn how to: teach and assess the various language skills; employment opportunities in the field of ESL; history of second language teaching; the differences between first and second language acquisition; and, what research tells us about second language learning. Students will receive a certificate upon completion of this class. May be eligible for A&B training bonus discount of $100 off of class fees. Restrictions apply. Ask registration staff if you qualify.
Derek Snyder M.A, in ESL, is an instructor in UHMC’s ESL program, the Maui Language Institute, and has extensive experience teaching English overseas and in the University of Hawai’i system.
