Language Interpreter Training for Personal & Professional Development
This training is a great introduction to the growing field of professional interpreting as well as tips and strategies for those who interpret for friends and family. You will learn what steps are needed to interpret professionally, and have an opportunity to develop interpreting skills for social, medical and professional settings. If you are an experienced interpreter and want to increase your skills for working with public agencies and health care settings this class will be beneficial. Topics to be covered include: the roles and modes of interpreters; vocabulary building; and the laws and rights regarding language access. Skill building is an important part of the class so there will be plenty of practice. Steps to becoming a professional interpreter will be discussed as well as resources for further development.
Requirement: Participants should be bi-lingual and are encouraged to bring another person who speaks the same language, although this is not required.
