Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS)


Through hands-on exercises, the principles of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) will be presented using ArcGIS 9.1. You will create maps, query data and conduct basic overlay analysis using existing data sets. This workshop is designed for the new GIS user.

Derek Masaki is Technical Coordinator for the USGS Pacific Basin Information Node an office of the National Biological Information Infrastructure. A graduate of UC Davis with a degree in Environmental Science and Land Use Planning, Derek has over 10 years of experience as a programmer and technical project manager for environmental information systems development.
