Are you ready to support the changes coming in the field of health care?

Therefore health and IT professionals will be needed for this growing field

Trainers
Starting in April VITEC is having a six-month training program to teach health care workers and IT professionals how to implement an electronic health record system. This is primarily an online course with some lab work done at Maui College. Until federal funds are exhausted, your cost for this training program is only $25.
The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) awarded $84 million in cooperative agreements for the Health IT Workforce Development Program to help ensure that health professionals have the technical support they need to adopt electronic health records. ONC's Health IT Workforce Development Program is expected to reduce the shortfall of skilled health IT professionals by 85 percent. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, Department of Education, has indicated a national shortage of at least 51,000 qualified Health IT workers needed in hospitals and practices as they adopt electronic health care systems. The government indicates these jobs will increase fastest through 2018. The demand for trained health IT professionals exceeds the supply. What are you doing to keep up?
